Assist. Prof. Stjepan Tvorić, PhD, is Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences (TVZ), Croatia. He has extensive academic and industrial experience in power engineering, electrical rotating machines, diagnostics, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
He spent more than 11 years as a Research Engineer at KONČAR – Electrical Engineering Institute, working on the development, design, testing, diagnostics and monitoring of electrical rotating machines. His hydropower-related expertise includes research on hydrogenerator operation, reliability and condition assessment, particularly through the multi-phase project “Operation of Hydro Generators with Bypassed Stator Coils”, addressing the safe continued operation of hydrogenerators under stator winding fault conditions.
His research interests include advanced generator diagnostics, online monitoring, predictive maintenance, digitalisation, grid-code requirements and innovative measurement systems for rotating machines.
Dr. Tvorić is actively involved in CIGRE Study Committee A1 – Rotating Electrical Machines and has contributed to international CIGRE activities and working groups. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific and professional publications and presented his research at HYDRO international conferences, CIGRE Paris, IEEE conferences and other international scientific and professional events.
His combination of industrial R&D experience, hydrogenerator expertise, academic leadership and international CIGRE engagement provides a strong multidisciplinary perspective on the reliability, diagnostics and future development of hydropower generation systems.
