GE Renewable Energy, SWITZERLAND

Dr.-Ing. Christof Gentner is an expert for hydraulic design of water turbines and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). He obtained a doctoral degree in numerical simulation and experimental investigations in axial turbines at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. In 1999 he joined a major manufacturer of electro-mechanical equipment for hydro power plants as a specialist for CFD-based hydraulic development of Francis turbines, pump turbines and radial pumps. From 2008 until 2014 he was head of the hydraulic design team for radial machines and globally responsible for the hydraulic development of pump turbines in the same company.

In October 2014 he joined GE Renewable Energy in Birr, Switzerland, as head of hydraulic tendering for the German language markets. He has wide experience with the practical application of CFD to design, operation analysis and trouble shooting for hydraulic machines. Christof Gentner has been active in the field of hydraulic machines for over 20 years and is author or co-author of more than 40 publications and conference papers.
